The President of Zambia recently made a remarkable declaration, at the event of Africa Day. President Hakainde Hichilema announced that he is planning to completely abolish the death penalty row. According to him, the death penalty row or capital punishment is a degrading, inhumane and merciless practice. This recent announcement has obtained great support from throughout Zambia and Africa. One of the supporters has been Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, who founded the Prison Fellowship Zambia around 37 years ago. Prison Fellowship is a top Christian Outreach Program focussing on making sure fundamental human rights and basic human dignity for the prisoners in Zambia.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani, via his employer Prison Fellowship Zambia, has pledged his complete help to the announcement made via the Zambian President. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, at the same time as stating records, found out that there are greater than 350 prisoners across Zambian prisons who're expecting capital punishment. For them, every day is a venture as they awaken each day not understanding if it will be their closing day. Working via Prison Fellowship Zambia, Dr. Rajan Mahtani observed that there are numerous prisoners who've converted themselves via dedicating in the direction of the service of the God and becoming law abiding citizens. Also, Dr. Rajan Mahtani stated that majority of the countries throughout the globe as well as throughout Africa have started to bear in mind abolishing the death penalty regulation. Addition to that, preceding Presidents of Zambia have tactically prevented loss of life penalty by using using mercy prerogatives. The last time loss of life penalty was given was in the year 1997. As such, Dr. Mahtani said that he's going to provide his complete support toward turning this declaration into actual regulation.
